The Department of Dance at Case Western Reserve University is pleased to announce the Fall 2019 production of MaDaCol (Mather Dance Collective). The program will feature new works by graduate students Christian Mintah and Katie Nabors, and CWRU alumnus Richard Oaxaca.

Performance dates and times are November 21 and 22 at 8:00 p.m., and November 23 at 7:00 and 8:30 p.m. All performances are at Mather Dance Center, 11201 Bellflower Road, on the Case Western Reserve campus in University Circle.

Second year graduate student Christian Mintah will present a new work titled Beating Heart. Set to powerful music by Byron Metcalf, this piece was created to depict the actions and emotions of the heart through a different lens, drawing from contemporary, traditional African and afrobeat dance movements.

Katie Nabors, also a second year graduate student, will premiere Warp and Weft. Set to a jubilant and sincere classical guitar composition by Francisco Tárrega, this work looks into the interconnections between individuals and groups. Her primary focus is the weaving together of strength and joy, explored through spatial design and moments of connection between the dancers.

Richard Oaxaca, a 2016 graduate of the MFA program, returns to MaDaCol to bring to life a dance inspired by a simple walk in the park. The pedestrian movement of Move, Look, Repeat! is set to the rich, rhythmically interesting music of Australian composer Elena Kats-Chernin. His inspiration includes visions of people at a park, interacting and connecting in different ways as the piece unfolds.

Tickets are $10 for general admission and may be purchased at Mather Dance Center prior to each performance. Early arrival is suggested because seating fills quickly. No reservations and no advance sales will be made.
